Running on Purpose
Oh hey ! Hang in there
WHAT is this

In December 2024, I will run New Zealand’s iconic Te Araroa trail and set off to mark a new fastest known time by a female with assistance (presently at 57 days and 10 hours, held by Brooke Thomas).
While doing this, I want to raise $ 30,000 for the Mental Health Foundation NZ.
This journey will be my biggest physical, mental, and financial challenge to date.

I want to team up with Sponsors who similarly strive for big audacious goals whilst being guided by a purposeful mission
that is centred around supporting people and nature.

Why ?
Having had struggles with my own mental-wellbeing, I appreciate how important mental health is for all of us.
I want to support the mahi of the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand by running the Te Araroa Trail and raising $30,000 for mental health.

The execution plan
Route
In December, I will start running the Te Araroa Trail from Cape Reinga in the North Island and work myself towards Bluff, in the South Island. I aim to cover a distance of ~ 3000 km in under 57 days. On average I will be running 54 km every day.

Transport
A van that can sleep up to 4 people will follow me along the journey. I will meet the van throughout the day at marked checkpoints to refill water, food and swap cloths if necessary. About 75% of the entire trail,
I will be sleeping in the van. About 25% will be in backcountry huts where I will be self-supported, carrying everything I need.

Equipment
I will use about 7-9 pair of running shoes. I hope to partner with relevant brands to support for me with the high quality gear and nutrition I need to successfully acomplish the journey.
